1 Chinoiserie Barometer SAI3248

1 Chinoiserie Barometer SAI3248

£175.00

A superb brass circular barometer housed in a beautifully decorated chinoiserie frame in excellent condition. This distinguished piece was presented to W. Craven Llewelyn Esq. by the Liberals of the Chester Division in April 1925, as engraved on the bezel. The centre is further inscribed with JD Siddall, Optician, The Cross, Chester, adding a charming historical detail to its provenance. The frame features a richly detailed scene: a solitary figure beside a riverbank, surrounded by birds, a house, and stylised foliage, all embellished with gilt-edged decoration that enhances its period charm. As with all antiques, there are some signs of age—visible in the photographs—but these minor imperfections do not detract from the overall appeal of this striking and characterful barometer.
