A fabulous 19th-century German walnut bracket clock by renowned makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier, celebrated as among the finest clockmakers of the Victorian era. The arched architectural case is adorned with gilt metal decoration and showcases rich colouring and beautiful grain. Its brass 12.5" dial—inscribed H. Pomfritt, 40 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester—is framed by a brass bezel with bevelled-edge glass and features classic Roman numerals along with subsidiary dials. The backplate is signed W&H/SCH/5, denoting its maker's mark. Housing a fully serviced eight-day movement that strikes on a gong, this superb clock is in full working order and stands as an elegant and historically significant addition to any refined interior.
