A finely carved Japanese wooden bear, worked from a single block of timber and displaying the bold, textural carving characteristic of Hokkaidō Ainu folk sculpture. The bear is captured mid‑stride with its jaws open, teeth and tongue crisply defined, and the fur rendered through expressive chisel work that gives the piece movement.
