A fine Victorian rosewood console table attributed to the renowned Dublin cabinetmaker Robert Strahan, bearing the firm’s original printed trade label “Established A.D. 1776 – Robert Strahan, Cabinet Maker, Upholsterer, Auctioneer and Undertaker, 24 Henry Street, Dublin.” Strahan’s workshops were celebrated throughout the 19th century for their exceptional craftsmanship, refined design, and use of richly figured timbers — qualities clearly evident in this elegant piece.

The console is made from beautifully grained rosewood with a warm, even polish that highlights its natural depth of colour. The rectangular top is finished with a delicately moulded edge, above two open tiers supported by boldly carved scroll brackets. Condition is excellent for its age, with only minor marks consistent with careful use. The structure is sturdy, the carving remains sharp, and the table stands well.

A handsome and authentic example of Strahan’s mid‑Victorian craftsmanship, combining practicality with decorative appeal — and enhanced by the survival of its original maker’s label, a rare and desirable detail for collectors.
