A fantastic Victorian centre table of exceptional quality, featuring a serpentine-shaped top inlaid with exquisite veneers of rosewood, satinwood, and amboyna. The top rests on four elegant cabriole legs, each adorned with fine ormolu mounts at the shoulder and terminating in ormolu sabots—details that speak to the table’s refined provenance. The beautifully shaped frieze includes a central ormolu mount and discreetly conceals two drawers at either end, both stamped and marked by the maker, John Metcalfe of Richmond. The craftsmanship is superb throughout, and the table remains in excellent condition.
