Victorian Messenger's Oil / Paraffin Lamp - SAI3197

£350.00

A striking Victorian oil/paraffin lamp featuring twin adjusters stamped Messenger’s No.2 Patent Duplex—a mark of quality and innovation from one of the period’s most respected makers. The tulip-shaped Vaseline glass shade, with its delicate swirl-line motif, glows with subtle opalescence, beautifully complemented by a clear glass chimney and a finely cut glass reservoir in excellent condition—free from chips or cracks. The single brass reeded column rises from a decorative square base, supported by four ornate claw feet that lend a sense of grandeur and balance. Fully functional and immaculately preserved, this lamp is both a practical light source and a refined decorative piece. A superb example of late 19th-century design—ideal for collectors, interior designers, or anyone seeking to add a touch of Victorian elegance to their space.

Messenger No 2 model was a duplex burner with concentric wick winder shafts controlling the two wicks.
