An elegant giltwood over mantel mirror in the Rococo Revival style, presented in wonderful antique condition with age-related wear commensurate with use and years. The shaped mirror plate is enclosed within a richly ornamented frame adorned with asymmetrical scrolling acanthus foliage, flowering motifs and flowing C-scrolls, centred by an elaborate cartouche crest. The mirror retains all the charm and character expected of a period piece, with evidence of historic restoration to sections of the moulded decoration. Both decorative and highly practical, this striking mirror reflects the opulent influence of eighteenth-century French Rococo design and would make a superb addition to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
