This exquisite Victorian walnut and marquetry bureau du dame / Lady's Writing Desk is in excellent condition. Two small cabinets, adorned with delicate marquetry and string inlay, flank a small, shaped mirror and a small drawer. The cabinets feature elegant, pierced brass galleries and glazed doors that open to reveal a wine velvet-lined interior with a fixed shelf. The fall front, decorated with more of the fantastic marquetry inlay, opens to an original leather inset writing surface. The rosewood and tulipwood interior is fitted with three waterfall drawers, pigeonholes, and a sliding well that opens to reveal additional storage space. The desk is raised on elegant cabriole legs with ormolu mounts at the hips and an attractively shaped apron, once again adorned with marquetry inlay. This is a fantastic item that will add style and elegance to any home office.
