Fantastic Scottish mahogany longcase / grandfather clock from the wonderful Victorian era. The eight day movement is housed in a stunning hood with swan neck pediment and three brass finials with eagle tops. Amazing barley twist columns flank an arched glass door displaying a beautifully painted clock face. This stunning clock by J&T Black has a scene named "Cotters Saturday Night" in the arch with brightly painted spandrels depict the four seasons. The cream dial has black painted roman numerals with two additional dials in the centre for seconds and date. The case has a bowfront door flanked by half barley twist columns and covered in amazing flame mahogany veneers. The base has a flame mahogany panel and sites on bracket feet. This fabulous Kirkcaldy clock is in excellent condition with a wonderful warm colouring and amazing patina. Like all antiques there are the odd age-related marks but that does not diminish the outstanding quality of this statement item.
