A distinguished Victorian secretaire, attributed to Gillows and crafted from an exceptional combination of rosewood, burr walnut, and mahogany. The piece comes complete with three working keys.

The upper section is arranged with three decorative panels, the central panel forming a fall‑front that opens to reveal a neatly fitted interior of small drawers, pigeonholes, and a green baize writing surface. To the left sits a deep drawer with a petal‑shaped panel, while the matching panel on the right opens to reveal two pull‑out trays.

Below, a series of Gothic‑inspired arched panels showcases the contrasting timbers and the high calibre of the workmanship. These doors open to three full‑length pull‑out trays, offering generous storage — ideal for organising office essentials.

The harmonious mix of rosewood, burr walnut, and mahogany gives the secretaire a warm, luxurious palette, enriched by a glowing patina developed over time. In excellent antique condition with only light age‑related marks, this is a superb example of Victorian cabinetmaking: refined, functional, and unmistakably in the Gillows tradition.
