A charming early 19th century Italian marquetry inlaid commode, presented in excellent antique condition and retaining its original key. The rectangular top is veneered in richly figured mahogany and centred by a finely executed oval marquetry panel depicting a flowering spray, framed by graceful scrolling inlay and enclosed within a delicate crossbanded border.

The chest is configured with two short drawers above three long graduated drawers, each finely decorated with satinwood and tulipwood marquetry forming intertwined foliage, floral garlands and elegant neoclassical motifs. Original handles and decorative escutcheons further enhance its refined character.

The sides are equally decorative, each featuring an oval marquetry reserve depicting an idyllic rural landscape, surrounded by finely executed feathered and foliate inlay. Such attention to detail throughout is a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of the maker.

Raised on shaped bracket feet with contrasting inlaid decoration, this elegant commode provides generous storage while serving as a wonderful example of fine Italian cabinetmaking, combining rich timbers, exquisite marquetry and enduring decorative appeal.
