A charming mahogany gossip chair by Wheelers of Arncroach, Fife—a fine example of Scottish craftsmanship with timeless appeal. The classic Chippendale-style back features an open splat and gently curved top ends, lending elegance to its silhouette. The drop-in seat pads are upholstered in a sweet tapestry-style fabric, clean and well-preserved; though should a different finish be preferred, they could be easily reupholstered to suit any interior. Standing on splayed rear legs and tapering square front legs, the frame is united by an H stretcher and rear cross brace for added stability. Rich in colour and solid in construction, this characterful piece carries minor age-related imperfections that only enrich its charm. A distinctive accent—steeped in Scottish history—that would make a delightful addition to any home.

The well-known 'Gossip' chair was a design by Sir Robert Lorimer of Kellie Castle in Scotland and made by William Wheeler of Arncroach in Fife who was both joiner and wheelwright to the Lorimer family.
