A magnificent Italian carved walnut cassapanca bench, richly detailed and full of Renaissance‑revival character. The high back is deeply carved with scrolling foliage, cherubs, and classical figures in relief, arranged in a beautifully balanced, symmetrical composition. The armrests terminate in bold lion‑mask carvings, adding strength and presence to the piece.

The front panel is equally elaborate, with scrolling acanthus, putti, and central figural medallions, all crisply executed in warm, well‑patinated walnut. The seat lifts to reveal useful storage, as is traditional with cassapanca forms.

Substantial in scale and exceptional in craftsmanship, this is a striking example of 19th‑century Italian carving — decorative, architectural, and full of life. A true statement piece for a hallway, reception room, or grand interior.
