A superb late Victorian pollard oak mirror‑back sideboard in excellent condition. The upper section is an impressive architectural arrangement of five bevelled mirrors, framed by carved uprights, shaped supports, and richly detailed cresting. At the centre, the mirror is crowned by a wonderfully carved mask, executed with confident Victorian craftsmanship.

Above the side mirrors sit two remarkable high‑relief animal carvings — a boar’s head to one side and a fox or wolf head to the other — each emerging from scrolling oak leaves. The modelling of the features and textured fur is beautifully handled, showcasing the skill of a master carver.

The base is equally attractive, with a beautifully panelled front and a double‑doored central cupboard. Shelves flank either side, framed by carved uprights ideal for displaying treasured pieces. To one side, a concealed panel opens to reveal sliding trays, perfect for additional storage.

The pollard oak is a wonderful caramel, honeyed colour, with lively burr figuring and a warm patina that speaks to years of careful use. A genuine Victorian example, retaining its authenticity, charm, and decorative impact.
