Japanese Kibori Kuma – Hand-Carved Bear - SAI4203

Japanese Kibori Kuma – Hand-Carved Bear - SAI4203

£225.00

A characterful Japanese wooden bear sculpture, hand‑carved from richly stained timber and depicted in mid‑stride. The carving has a wonderfully tactile surface and a warm, developed patina that reflects years of handling and appreciation. It is a charming decorative piece — full of warmth, movement, and the distinctive personality of Japanese folk carving. Light age‑related marks are consistent with its age and only enhance its authenticity.

Originally inspired by Swiss Black Forest carvings, these bears became a celebrated regional craft in Japan, standing today as both cultural artefacts and fine examples of traditional woodcarving.
